I graduated from dental school last year and finished a gp residency last month. I wasn't impressed by my residency but I kept my end of the commitment. At the moment, I have New York dental licensure but I don't want to work just yet.

I want to do another GPR right now, preferably in NYC. ( for July 08 - June 09 )

Is it too late to do another one?

Does anyone know of a NY-based GPR program that is still looking to fill residents for the current year?

What should I do?

Out of curiosity, why would you want to do a second one? I doubt you will be able to get a position to repeat the GPR unless a program is looking for a chief resident and from I'm told, those usually come from people who want to stay a second year in their current program.

I don't want to repeat the GPR at the same place. I'm saying that I want to do another GPR at a different hospital or school. I don't care if I get a position as a first yr resident or a chief resident.

I want to do a second GPR because no two GPRs are alike. One's weakness is another's strength and vice versa.

Why don't you just work somewhere like a community health center and perform basic restorative and ext? Then you could use some of your income to invest heavily in good CE courses instead of wasting another year in a GPR.

Thanks!
