Question for all those ahead of me, and all of my peers with opinions:

As a DO in an as yet unknown allopathic EM residency, is the USMLE step 2 relevent for me? I took USMLE step 1 and did well and I just took the Comlex step 2 and should do average or so.

Is there any compelling reason to take USMLE 2? Anybody out there who wished they had taken it as a MS4? Any R1 or R2s who are taking it now for any reason? Any programs that people know the PD specifically requests the USMLE in addition to the Comlex? Needed for fellowships?

What year are you now? It sounds like you are a M4. If that's true, no reason to take USMLE Step 2. You did yourself a favor by taking USMLE Step 1 to help wtih the application process. Since the ROL are due in a month adn the interview season is drawing to a close, there is no reason whatsoever to take the USMLE Step 2. Take the COMLEX Step 3 and you will be done.

Yes, I'm an MS4, and I knew the USMLE 1 would be a good idea, but I'd rather save the money and skip USMLE 2. I guess I'll have to suffer through another COMLEX though (does ANYBODY even believe in Chapman points, let alone use them? then why so many freaking questions about them on the COMLEX??).

you dont need to take usmle 2. you already did the smart thing and did well on usmle 1. i believe in chapman's points about as much as I believe in laying my hands on someone's head and feeling their cranial rhythm (disregard that skull between your hands and the csf...) another believable technique invented by the boogeyman/santa claus/the tooth fairy/easter bunny research team.

I call crainal the Theology portion of my Medical School. Why do I feel like I'm in church during those lectures?
