i am applying for both dental school and medical school. On the dental school application, it asks if i am currently applying for other health profession school other than dental school. The answer is obviously yes, but should i tell them? will they ask why i am applying for both? my reason is that being a medical doctor takes up too much time for a female who wants to have a family, but since i have started the application form long ago, i do not want to give up in the middle of the way. will that work? ahhhhhhhhhh!

I think you should pick now and only apply to one or the other.

btw, if you do apply to both, I'd suggest honesty on your application. I know I wouldn't want to have someone as a dentist that thinks it's okay to lie if they won't get caught.

Is "the family time issue" what you put as the reason for wanting to be a dentist on your personal statement? You gotta go deeper than that.... I also agree with the previous posters, you have to be 100% honest on the applications not just for your own moral reasons, but because you never know what kinds of resources adcoms have to check up on your background.

If your reason for applying to dental school is because medical school is taking too much time away from you to have a family, why are you still applying to med school? What would you pick if you get into both?

You need to take some time off to reevaluate what you want in life. Applying to both when you are not 100% committed is wasting everyone's time including your own. You're also wasting a lot of money too. Why not shadow a few doctors/dentists to see what you want to do first?

I am speechless..............this is why the applicant pool is through the roof. It is really sad. The funny thing is I do believe med school apps are down as a whole cross the country. The decrease is caused by the exponential conversion from med to dent among other things. When will this madness end?
