Hey everyone,

I am already accepted into a dental school for 2011, as oos student. However due to some personal problems and the school distance from my home state I am thinking not to go to that school. I have also paid my deposit to reserve a seat. I was just thinking that before the school starts I should re take the DAT and apply for 2012 cycle. And if i do worse this time in DAT I will go to the school that I have been already accepted to. My question is if I register for the DAT again does that automatically cancel my admission from the school where I am accepted and have paid the deposit. If no what are the cons? Do I have to let the school know that I am retaking the dat? Also if I apply for Financial aid right now and I get approve for the loan do I have to take that loan? If I decide not to go to the school in 2011 and go to the school in 2012 when I reapply for the loan does this affect my eligibility for the loan?

P.S. Deferment is not allowed in the school I am accepted to.

You will be GREATLY disappointed. I'd kill to be in your shoes. Leave the DAT alone lol.

I'd kill to be accepted to dental school n I wouldn't ever give it up...to be honest don't do it...worse case scenario u don't get in next yr ud regret it..then again u could do better in ur DATs ...So again ur call but consider both options

Are you not allowed to defer the acceptance for one year? I'm sure there are cases where you can do that unless I'am mistaken. In regards to the loan, nothing is set in stone. It wouldn't affect your eligibly. If anything, its a wasted inquiry on your credit report if that means something to you. And no, you're not obligated to take the loan.

Good luck on whatever you decide. Anything can happen between now and next year. You can be in a whole another place next year, good or bad. Be sure to pick whats best for you.

Thanks for the opinion guys !! Personally I would not like to let the admission go as well. However my question is if I retake the DAT right now the school that I am accepted to can cancel my admission despite of the fact that I have paid the deposit to reserve my seat?If i don't do batter in DAT then I am def planing to go to that school !! So if the school can cancel my admission I wouldn't like to take the risk.

P.S.: Deferment is not allowed in the school I am accepted to.

I don't believe any of us here know the answer to this question, and for ur sakes, you shouldn't listen to us anyways since... none of us work in the admission office of the mentioned school.

The smartest thing you can do about this is to call up the school directly and ask them.
