I am freaking out!

Step 1 is June 1st for me and I took my first NBME (Form 12) today and scored a 168! I'm one week into DIT, 400 questions into UWorld, and started Pathoma. I have 23 days left and I am unsure I can even pull my score up enough to break a 200. I dont think im utilizing UWorld properly....I feel i spend alot of time reading the explanations and annotating FA, but I miss the big picture of the question. I've been studying 15-18 hrs this past week and at least hoped to pass my first NBME, but I'm very discouraged now. I'm meeting with school adviser this afternoon to see what they have to say and if i can push back the date and start my first rotation later. Any advice on how to tweak my studying or what to do will be VERY APPRECIATED.

First of all, with your timeframe I highly suggest pulling way more than 15-18 hours per WEEK, it should be more like 12-14 hours a DAY.

Once, you make that adjustment, you should be able to get into better rhythm of taking this test. That way the week before the exam your rolling right into the test in rhythm.

I think you should try and read FA again one whole time and hopefully after read the sections that you have trouble with. If you can push your test back, that may help too.

Oh and KEEP DOING QUESTIONS! Maybe don't annotate as thoroughly, set a schedule and goal for yourself every day and do as much of it as you can and if you cant get to it move on to the next thing for the next day. Thats the only way you will get through this.

Hope this helps and Good luck, just remember were all in the same boat!
