Hi All,
I went to community college and then transferred to university after 55 credits. I knew 3 professors well and they knew me well. My organic, physics and writing professors(took sequence with all of them). Also one professor knows me well and he will write a steller letter for me at university but I need 3. Now here is the q? Does LOR's from Professors who teach at community college weigh less than those at universities??? Whom should I get LOR's from, any advise would be nice. Thanks!!

Definitely get them from whoever knows you best. Obviously it helps if you did well in their class too.

I don't think LOR's from a community college will be looked down upon. If they know you well, get the letters from them!

It is good to get letters for a professor that knows you best, but it is better to get just as good letter from professors that have been head of the department or chair of the department is better. The more accomplished the professor the better. My pre-health advisor told me this. What is the difference? My professors at the university level did not know me well, but asked to see my personal statement, resume, and transcribes. They documents give enough personal information for his to seem like he knew me well. For anyone who offers to write one give them that information no matter how well they know you.

It does hurt you if those professors are from a community college. If you know at least one a little, and got an A in his class from a normal college, you should get his. Dental schools know that standards in community colleges are much lower than in regular schools

Don't worry about it. I got all 3 LORs from my community college professors. I was out of school so long, none of my prof from university remembered me. I got 7 interviews. Few schools mentioned about my LORs during my interviews because my prof from CC gave me very good words.

Just curious, where did you get your source from ?

By community college do you mean a city college or a 2 year Associates degree, junior college?
If it's a city college than you'll be fine

This community college vs. university is always argued here. I personally thing it is a mixed. You can not say that all community college course are the same. Community college has some of the best professors. As you said sanjudoctor, they choice to teach at community college. I attended a CC and I think there were professors that demanded a lot and others that demand very little from students. This is the same at the university level.
