Hello. My name is Britton and I am 21 years old. I graduated High School in 2012 and since then I've totally screwed off in college. I hated highschool and I barely graduated. After I got out of highschool I got a job as a pharmacy tech at CVS. Little did I know how much I'd love doing what I did. I loved educating patients and learning all the different medications and reactions, etc. But I've basically blown off school all the way up to this point and I really want to be a pharmacist. I know all the prior prerequisites but my motivation is lacking. I know this is what I want to do but I'm not super strong at studying and I'm honestly not super sure how to. My GPA is only a 2.785 but I've only taken a few classes. I've tried chemistry twice now and have dropped it because of my lack of motivation. I have ADHD and am now on medication for it. I know I'm young but I don't want to waste anymore time. Can any of you shed some light on my situation or tell me about a time in your academic career that was similar? I'm planning to just do my two years of undergrad and apply. Someone help!

No one can give you motivation. If you want to be a pharmacist, then you need to jump through the hoops just like everybody else. You have to PROVE to admissions that you are capable of being a pharmacist. At least that's how I think of it.

As far as studying, most colleges have a study skills course you can take and study seminars going over specific skills throughout the year (for example, time management, test taking skills, etc.). Utilize all your school's resources if you need them. Office hours, tutors, whatever. A study group can help keep you responsible to other people and thus help you keep up with the material.

You can't let failures bring you down, but it's time to let your actions reflect your words.

I would say to get a study group before exams it helps alot because you won't put it off due to other ppl commitment. But know that undergrad is easier than pharmacy school so learn a few tricks to retain information and do better in classes.

It's not just getting in. It's also finishing the program. I know someone who flunked out the first semester. I know someone who flunked out the last semester before rotations and has a crushing amount of debt with nothing to show for it. If there are problems now, they need to be addressed.

agree but may be these students have non-academic problems. it is extremely hard to fail out professional school, and flunk out pharmacy school? lolz

Not if you're attending a for profit private school whose sole goal is to milk students for 2 years of tuition before giving them the boot and letting them fend for themselves 😉.
