Hello all,

I just registered here, but I've been reading the forums for a while and I've been impressed by all the great info that's available here. 🙂

I'm going to be starting on my prerequisites for pharmacy school this fall and I wanted to make a request of some pharmacist out there. I recently lost my job due to a major lay-off at my previous employer, and because of that, I've been given the opportunity to apply for a "Workforce Retraining" grant/scholarship from the state of Oregon. One of the things needed to finish the application is an "interview" with two Pharmacist to ask questions about the field, what you like most/least about the job, how many hours you work, etc. I was wondering if I could get a couple of you to answer some questions for me. There's 15 questions on the app.

I thought this would be a better idea than calling or going into a pharmacy and asking for an interview during work hours.

If anyone is willing, please post and I'll send a PM with the questions. Thanks! 🙂

I'm not a pharmacist, so I can't help you other than to say that most people would gladly give you a few minutes of their time to talk to you about their jobs. I would go into a local pharmacy that isn't too busy and just ask. Be nice about it, and offer to come back later if they need you to, but it shouldn't be a problem at all. I had to do something like this for a class a few years ago and the pharmacist was way cool about it.

I would advise you to actually go and interview a pharmacist. I don't know what your state/program requires...but if its something that they might check in on later (by anyone) then its better to have it in person. As busy as pharmacists are, as long as you schedule an interview it should be pretty easy to get one...especially if you tell them you can come in and interview while they're working and you'll be out of the way.

Yes, should be face to face interview, otherwise I could answer your questions as could a million other pharmacist overseas.

I have a PharmD. in Anesthesia Pharmacy...would I be of any help?

You are applying for free money and you are not willing to put forth any effort to receive it?👎 Why not just get in the welfare line now?

And another new member fails to make it to post #2... nice work, all!

+1

A couple years ago, as a pre-pharm, I had to interview two pharmacists for a class. I just called a couple of local pharmacies and asked the pharmacist if he/she was willing to do an interview and what time would work for them. Most pharmacists are actually very helpful to those trying to get into the profession. One pharmacist even took the time to kind of give me a tour of the pharmacy and a general overview of the workflow. So, if you are polite, I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting some pharmacists to interview.

Only the stong will survive.

Or people willing to do their own leg work. They seem to survive just fine. You can't come in here looking for someone to complete your government assistance app for you and expect that to go well.

I think the best part is that the OP will forever have the word "phamacist" (sic) in the topic of his or her only thread.

A problem with other forums. Someone comes on asking for help, but then vanishes when we try to help them. We have had students asking us to do their homework for them, other wanting essays and even application letters.

Happens all the time here. The homework questions are my favorite.

A few months ago there was a clever one in the pre-pharm side. Someone phrased a Le Chatlier's question like, "You guys remember how to do this one?" It didn't work.

Thanks to everyone for your advice and constructive criticism (or not so constructive criticism). I've decided to take your advice and give a call to some local pharmacies this week to see if I can set up some interviews.

I'll be sure to post how it went. Thanks again.
