I received an offer for a retail chain (CVS) this week however I am not really sure how to go about negotiating or if I even should? Is it acceptable to tell the company that you got another offer from a competitor with a higher wage but you really want to stay with this company? I am not really sure what the demand for pharmacists is in this state and don't really know how to find that out.. Also I dont really have any other leverage besides the fact that I was an intern for the company and I will be completing my MBA in may.

What's the old saying, 'if your rich you don't have to ask the price'? Same thing here. Being you need to ask how to 'ask' to negotiate, it's best not to. If you want to negotiate, you need to have the confidence to do so. Otherwise, the other person can sense your trepidations and will shut you down. In this scenario, they could just shut you down and out of the job all together. Negotiating is most definitely not something for you to entertain, at this time, for this particular job search.
Two thumbs up for thinking about it though. A good sign you value yourself and your skill set. Some seasoning and you'll be good to negotiate a better deal for yourself down the line.

I find the nutritional supplementation provided from the ingestion of a DAILY MULTIVITAMIN, combined with rugged good looks and being the smartest person in the room to be most helpful in any situation, that warrants negotiations. Silly goose, I just gave away my secrets.

Didn't you start this same thread a week ago? The consensus in that thread is the same as its going to be in this one and any other one you start. Asking to negotiate an offer in today's job market, especially with CVS, will be looked upon as a joke/insult. They won't give you a penny more than their stated offer. If you don't like it, they'll revoke your offer and give it to the one of many new grads looking for employment.

Take what you get and be happy you have a full time job.

Are you serious? Negotiate what? It's a starting position for a rookie retail pharmacist. You're probably making in the 50/hr range with likely 30 hours per week as a floater. That's typical and that's what the standard offer is on the east coast. It's also more than your non-pharmacy school friends are likely making. If you really did get a better offer from another chain, then accept it!!!! All chain retail is more or less the same other than the name on the paycheck. Let CVS know about the other offer and you may get some negotiating power if they really like you. Unlikely here on the east coast, but worth a shot. Please be grateful for employment. It's a privilege not an entitlement.
