Can anyone give me their input on these two Ohio schools - Northeast Ohio Medical University and The Ohio State University?

To be honest, I'm surprised by how much I LOVED the experience I had interviewing at NEOMED. The school has gone through some amazing renovations and looks great, and their residency match rate is high (80%). This plus the fact that it's much closer to my family and friends makes it a really competitive option for me.

However, OSU has the name/reputation/alumni network that NEOMED doesn't. NEOMED is a newer school, which I know some may look down on, plus not many people outside of Ohio have heard of it, whereas most people have probably heard of OSU. The pharmacy school facilities at OSU didn't wow me, per se, but I know I would receive a quality education there. But I'm sure I'd receive a great education at NEOMED, too. Plus, OSU is located in a big city and I'm not a city person...but, OSU's campus is great. Ah!

Their tuition costs are very comparable, so that's not really a factor here. Please, give me all of the advice/input you can -- while this is a great dilemma to have and I cannot complain, it's also been very hard for me to decide! Thank you in advance!

Both are good schools and cost around the same. Specifically in pharmacy I don't think name recognition/prestige of school really matters - just the quality of education. I was in the same boat and didn't really like the idea of moving to Columbus. I knew that I would like NEOMED better but it was still hard to pass up on OSU just because it's a top school and I always considered it my top choice. At the end of the day though I'm happy with NEOMED. I don't think you can make a wrong choice in this situation since both are great options.
Thanks so much for your reply! After talking to three pharmacists and a couple of pharm students I know, I came to the conclusion that NEOMED is the best option for me. There really wasn't a bad choice in this situation (and it was a great problem to have, of course) but I was still kinda worried about giving up the OSU name/brand basically. I'm really excited to start this fall! Thanks again 🙂
