oldbearprofessor said:As an aside, on the front page of SDN the title of your post was abbreviated to "Neonatology or peds". Ouch - I thought this was an either/or kind of statement....we neos can be a bit sensitive to being thought of as "not pediatricians"

scholes said:FYI, this is not a complete list. I noticed that cardiology and neonatology are missing a few programs.
oldbearprofessor said:Any hints as to which programs are missing?
scholes said:I just briefly looked at it and noticed that 2 of the 3 peds cards programs in Illinois are not on the list and one of the several NICU programs in Chicago is not on the list.

hmm, THIC claims to be one of only 2 accredited pedi cards programs in Illinois. Can't say why they didn't choose to be listed in the Jan. 2004 listing - perhaps they didn't have any openings in 2005 for fellows? I don't have the Jan. 2005 J Pediatr listing here but it can be found in any medical library - perhaps they decided to list spots for 2006 but not 2005? Don't know if they're right about being one of only 2 programs that are accredited (presumably Children's Memorial/NW is the other) - your comment seems to imply that there is another somewhere!
In any case, you are right that the J Pediatr listing is not complete and does not include programs that choose not to list themselves for whatever reason.
For most purposes, it should be useful, especially if one goes and gets the current (Jan 2005) edition.

And I of course didn't mean it as an either/or statement. I thought putting peds in front of neonatology was redundant since you guys work with babies.
scholes said:I did not mean to imply that your source was not useful. I was just commenting on it because the OP said he wanted a complete list, and I noticed that for at least some things, the list may not be complete. I hope I did not offend you OBP, because that was not my intention.
