Hi all, Congrats to you who are accepted!!! My wait is driving me nuts! Interviewed for SGU at the end of September for MD, MPH or both. Haven't heard anything yet. I went to an open house in the middle of October, and Dr. Jordan said I should hear by Nov. 1st, since they were waiting for my Aug. MCAT. When I didn't hear anything in early Nov., I called Bayside. They were very friendly, told me I should know by Thanksgiving. She said she would call me as soon as she knows. Anyone in a similar situation? 😕

Wow, I am interviewing in Manhattan for SGU the week of thanksgiving. I hope this isn't a reoccuring problem, but I will let you know how things go for me. As far as contacting me for an interview, as soon as they had my completed application, I got a call a week later from a a Dr. Reddi. Did you have to write an essay during your interview and if so what kind of topics are usually asked?

I did have to write an essay. It was very general, with three topics to choose from. You are given the front and back of a single page and ten minutes. I had more trouble choosing which topic to write about than actually writing the essay. The doc who was interviewing me said that I shouldn't worry about the essay and that it isn't that big of a deal. I can't remember all three topics (it has been a while since I had the interview 🙂)but I wrote about someone who has influenced me and how. I got the impression that it was just to ensure that you can speak English, and that you were the person who filled out the primary applicaiton and wrote the personal statement.

Don't get too nervous about the interview. Mine was very relaxed, and the doc even walked me to the best place at the hospital to catch a cab. Have some questions ready to ask at the end of the interview. I learned more about the school from the doc I interviewed with than at the open house. Good luck at your interview!

I am in the same boat as you are! I interviewed late in September, and they haven't made a decision yet! At least you were told to expect to hear something around thanksgiving. good luck and hang in there!

someone brought up this topic on the valuemd site as well, and bayshore is probably waiting until after the last day to decel(which is Nov. 24), to decide how many people it can let into the Feb class. What with LoA due to the hurricane and 1st termers doing poorly on midterms, there are a number of students that will be repeating in Feb and they won't really know how many open spots there really are for the Feb class.

I'm sure the relocation to LI and all the disruption that brought really didn't help. The 1st termers were only on the island for, what, 3, 4 weeks, before Ivan hit and they had a scare with Earle coming close and the 1st exam they had was the midterm so... I'm sure finals will be better.
