can anyone with application experience help me: im a current junior planning on applying next year, have about a 3.2 sci gpa and 3.4 overall, expecting to get around a 20-21 on the DAT (based on practice exams) any advice with what my chances are? im a nervous wreck🙁

well, i can tell you to try and keep some perspective. there's no sense in worrying until AFTER you've taken your DATs, and AFTER you've sent in your app. that's a lot of months of unnecessary worrying. it won't get you anywhere.

I agree, settle down. You havent even taken your DATs yet so you have no idea where you stand. If you get an 18 or below, I would say you probably need to re-take. If you get a 20+ I would say keep those scores and you stand a decent chance as long as everything else is in line and you apply to a lot of schools. Start panicking Nov. 30th, 2010!

The stats you just mentioned are pretty much identical to my own (~3.4 overall GPA, ~3.2 Sci GPA, and 21 on DAT) and I got into dental school this year (my first cycle!). Looking at an applicant's stats alone doesn't say everything about the quality of their application. I had a heck of a lot of volunteer/work/research experience plus most of my interviews went really well. So don't get discouraged if your gpa is a little lower than average, there are plenty other areas you can make up for that!
