Hi all,

Is anyone one here involved in the NESA (North East Student Affiliates) competition going on next weekend at UCONN? It would be really cool to meet some fellow SDNers! 🙂

aww, I have such fond memories of NESA....I graduated in 2006 from URI. My class was the pioneering team that got URI back into competing at NESA....I went in 2004 up in Maine... 2005 down at Rutgers, NJ...and 2006 at UMASS... what year are you? My last year, I placed 5th overall for livestock judging (my absolute most favorite part of the whole competition)... good luck!!!

hehe... I graduated from Rutgers 2006... was in the Nesa competition 2004, 2005, and 2006.. (wasn't 2004 at UConn?). It was really fun though. For anyone reading this post, I think NESA is a really good opportunity to network and learn valuable livestock information. Would look good on any resume, and it definitely helped me do some extra studying for some of my exams. Plus a little healthy competition is fun 🙂 Have fun this year LCKY! (PS... I love your alpaca picture... I actually gave my NESA presentation on alpaca business hehe)

Thanks Mooturkey!🙂 I'm actually giving a presentation on alpacas this year as well. Meningeal Worm Disease to be exact. I feel like the day isn't long enough if you don't present so I always end up doing it...

And Kiki...#5 in judging is quite a feat! That's awesome!! I'm a senior right now, so UMASS was my freshman year. Hopefully we'll do better this time at UCONN...UMASS never seems to do as well as the other schools but maybe this will be our year!

Im at UConn. While not a member of Block and Bridle (who is hosting this years NESA here at UConn), I am a member of UConn Dairy Club and we are all banding together to help host it for you all!

I took last year off but my freshman year i competed at Penn State. No one from UConn is actually competing (that i recall) due to the fact that we all have to help host it for you guys friday and saturday, and there simply isnt enough student body to help host it and compete.

It should be a very fun weekend and everyone (including professors and our grad students here) have worked very hard to try and put this all together for everyone! We'll be seeing you all tomorrow night and bright and early saturday morning at the arena!🙂

Meningeal Worm…great choice!!! 😀 (sorry I am a parasitology freak)

Thanks everyone!

And thanks farmgirl for all your hard work🙂 I'm sure it'll be awesome!

TSUJC-I'm also very into parasitology/virology/microbiology. All of those bugs are pretty interesting, even if learning about all of them can really freak you out. I actually ended up doing my undergrad research on Meningeal Worm! We were working on making a crude vaccine and got up close and personal with them. Very creepy little worms.
