So today I went to a neurologist for the first time. While filling out the intake form I was shocked to see "homosexual behavior" as one of the options under the "problematic symptoms" section. One of my professors, my family members, and I have all tried to think of a reason why this would be on there for a reason other than the neurologist is bigoted. Do you know of one? Also, what would a neurologist do to "treat" homosexual behavior? Neurologists don't do therapy, so it wouldn't be conversion therapy or anything... what would he do, drug them up or give them some medicine to somehow change their sexual orientation?

Its been bothering me all day and I feel like ethically I should do something, but what I don't know. I don't really want to ask and stir up some ****, particularly because I really do need to be seeing a neuro at this time.

Does the form look like it came out of a typewriter or was it perhaps written in feather pen?

Nope, and he's young enough to know better and is in a generation that is more accepting... so no excuses there.

This is very disturbing. Not sure what the ethics are on this one. Perhaps its best to cross-post this in the MD forum to see what our MD student colleagues have to say on the matter.

I think that comes with the license to practice medicine in Texas.

I had a sudden change of sexuality once. But after Lady Gaga left the stage I was straight again.
