I've read many threads on here saying that Neuro is being over-represented on Step 1. Specifically, what do you suggest I do for the Neuro Path/Pharm aspects. Is Goljan Rapid Review plus FA pharm sufficient? Thanks.

there is a lot more questions on neuro pathways and their symptoms etc. neuro high yield is the best, but goljan is good as well

thanks. i have a week left and neuro and micro to complete. are brainstem lesions pretty well represented on the test? just trying to figure out what to focus on.

I got a few brainstem lesions...but I mean consider that questions can be all along the spectrum of difficulty. For some reason I had several cross-sections (one MRI of the midbrain, one slide of the midbrain, one medulla slide) and I had an angio of the circle of willis. They were all pretty straightforward. I think it's worthwhile to read HY neuroanatomy and by all means know FA, but don't let the ridiculous detail that HY gets into at times get to you. Skim over that and make sure you know nuclei, tracts, laterality, wiring patterns.

And if you get a chance, review NBME questions. The pictures, diagrams, and concepts were closer to the actual questions than anything else I looked at. I know this sounds like commen sence, but I can not say this for all the subject areas, but it was very true for neuro.

I think the MRIs/angiograms/CTs at the beginning of HY neuro is golden. There was a lot of neuro on my exam, but it was all very straight-forward and easily managed with just First Aid plus the pictures in HY.
