I just started a job working with a research team at a biotech company. My job involves working with the images of neurons obtained by the research team, and analyzing the images. The analysis involves using computer software. Additionally, the job involves meetings with the research team to review the project, progress, and address concerns and I am even paid to do my own research pertaining to the research and project.

I'm hoping this is considered research because without my analysis of the neurons, the research cannot progress. But what does everyone think?

Just answered your own question. Yes, it would be considered research. Make sure, come interview season, you are able to explain the focus and methods of your group's research (intelligently).
