Is anyone here thinking of going into this combination field? If so, what schools do you think have the best programs either in neuroscience and pharmacology or both?

UCSD has an awesome neuroscience program and the Scripps Institute is a great resource for the organic chemistry.

that's the field that I'm interested in... but i've got a good two years before i start the app process. I'll have to get back to you about the diff programs

If you go down the US News list you get:
1) UCSF
2) Harvard
3) Stanford
4) Columbia
5) Hopkins

I won't argue with that. My research now is in neuropharm (at the molecular level), and all the big names seem to be at those schools. Those are also the most competitive MSTPs. I would argue that other strong Neuropharm schools include WashU, Cornell, and UCSD (Saulk + other institutes help). Anyone think of any others?

Those were the names I was expecting. I'm very interested in molecular neuropharmacology as it relates to psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and perhaps doing some consulting work for a pharmaceutical company.

Anyone know about the neuroscience at Yale?

Alright ND for advancing to the Sweet 16.
Go Irish! Beat Cats!

After looking into it, it looks like Yale has a pretty good neurosciences program. They also have some good people in organic chemistry and pharmacology.
