Hey I'm new to this forum and I was wondering is a neuroscience major as an undergrad really as hard as people say cause I am really good at biology and psychology as well as chemistry and these AP courses didn't seem to bad?

P.s I'm interested in neuroscience and it is my major at my college

I always viewed neuroscience as a discrete discipline in biology. I don't think it's impossible, but it would require more time commitment than say biology, not trying to bash bio majors (I used to be one). you would be combining parts of psychology in your studies, so make sure you're prepared for that.

I am prepared for psychology cause i am taking a couple of classes in it right now and I find it very easy (mostly cause I took IB psychology in high school and that was a joke).

Neuroscience is a great pre-med major if you can handle it and you're interested in the material (sounds like you can/are). I majored in it and loved it, and I found it really easy with a lot of very interesting research associated with it. On the off chance you find you don't like it, your credits will still count towards a bio or psych degree. I would go for it!

Major in what you enjoy. If neuroscience is your thing and you don't mind working your butt off for good grades, go for it. Just be aware that medical school adcoms don't really care what your major is, so DO NOT major in a subject because you believed it will impress them, do it because you like it.

Thanks for your responses! I probably will end majoring in Neuroscience, but some people tell me microbiology is easier. Can someone please talk about this? Thanks so much!!

The best thing you're looking for is an easy major that you love. Here's a little comparison flowchart that might help you: easy major + your love for it > easy major = loving a hard major. You want those 4.0s, but only if it means you love the subject. If you're interested in neuroscience, then you should do well, and you don't have a lot to worry about. Some say their major is easier than other majors, but that's only true if you put in the time and truly enjoy what you're learning. And no one can decide that except you.

Thanks that was really good advice, I think i will go into Neuroscience as a major for pre-med, but only because it interests me and I think I probably will end up loving it.

Some colleges offer neuroscience as a major for for undergraduate, but I've mainly seen it as a graduate study field. If your college doesn't, you could major in biology and minor in psychology, then apply to a graduate program or medical school (that's what I'm doing!). Make sure to check the requirements for different graduate programs to ensure you meet them.

It literally doesn't matter what your major is. I am sorry if this comes across as rude but I dont know why it gets repeated so much.

Major in what you love. English, Biology, Neuroscience. Just do well on the MCAT and have a good GPA. (Along with the other givens)

ADCOMS want to see you passionate about your major and show passion for education. If you're passionate and do well in your neuro major then it's great.
