these drugs are used for anxiolytics in many countries- the US being an exception. i'm happy to get into the mechanism for those interested... but are these drugs being considered seriously in US psych research?

There is research on it, but the research as it stands last I checked was that it was messy and often conflicting at times. No clear benefit observable at this point. Unless there have been any breakthroughs in the past couple years that I am not aware of.
