New AADSAS GPA Categories

Hello all-

This isn't a big deal, but it kinda surprised me when I just took a look at my application online -- Has anyone else that already e-submitted their application noticed that the GPA categories have changed since June 29th? I used to have Biology, Chemistry, Physics, BCP, Other Sciences, Non-Sciences, Cumulative. But now it's Bio, Chem, Phys, BCP, Sciences, Non-Sciences, Cumulative and my GPA calculations have changed a tad as a result. Like I said, not a big deal, just wanted to see what the heck was going on 🙂 Any idea why AADSAS decided to all of a sudden change their GPA categories?

I don't get what you mean. They changed the wording of "other sciences" to "sciences", but its still the same categories.

According to him, they added "sciences", but still have "other sciences" as another category. That's how I read it anyway.

Nope, "other sciences" is gone. It looks like "sciences" includes every science class, including the classes calculated into the BCP. Interesting change.

Other Sciences is definitely gone now all together as a catagory. BCP is still there but your old other sciences has been averaged with BCP to create the Science GPA (as the previous poster said). This is good news because it gives a more accurate comparison to previous cycles, which calculated BCP and Science as well as Cumulative.

I agree. This is definitely better. Besides, why do adcomm's care what your GPA was in your nutrition and geolgy classes anway? Long live the science GPA.

Well, I wasn't talking about what actually happened on the AADSAS. I was just saying that the OP still had non-sciences in his list. 😀

I like it better this way...the old meaty science gpa. I'd say in order of increasing importance it would go ---> non-science gpa, bcp, science gpa and overall gpa. Overall is still the best indicator of academic potential.

Interesting school of thought. However, I am not sure that I agree with you. Are you sure that this statement is not biased? (refering to your GPA's) 👎

I didn't give an opinion either; I commented on your comment. I don't think I really should work on the reading comp section considering I already took the DAT and scored a 24 in RC 🙄
