Dear colleagues,

to everyone who has given their boards...you guys are lucky. I'm taking mine in a few weeks on computer, but lately I've heard weird stories that there is a "weird" computer part 1 which is like problem based. Basically, you are given a clinical situation and based on that paragraph you are asked 5-10 questions. I have heard rumors of one student who has encountered this exam about a month ago and he was unprepared since it was not reflective of any of the stuff he studied, including the decks and old exams.

Does anyone have any information about this? Any information would be appreciated. Also, is it fair for the ADA to give this type of exam to certain people when other people are given a different format.

Thank you, Dens-en-Dente

i gave my exam on july 14 there was no clinical based questions and i think they will also tell students before they change the format . dont u think?
the questions were straightforward for my exam on july 14 and somebody took on 12 july their exam was also not case based.

Anjali,

Thank you for your reply. that makes me feel better. Could you let me/us know what you experienced on your exam. How was the difficulty, and odd questions? What about how you studied.

Thanks,

DED

I believe that the case-based exam starts late in 2005 or early 2006.

And, if the pilot exam was any indication, I think the case-based exam will be much easier. Some of those questions were ridiculously easy and didn't even have anything to do with the reading passage.

As much as I disliked the boards and its format, at least we had previous exams to look at. I'd hate going blindly into a brand new style board exam. Also, keep in mind if the questions are easier, it's still on a curve - and fewer questions can be missed.
