Hey all. I was wondering if any of you are thinking about getting the most recent 4th edition of BRS Physiology, for those who purchased the 3rd edition last year, in prep for boards. If anyone knows how much of the info has been updated please share (the edition updates claim to have been "thoroughly updated" and added a two-color format). Any thoughts?

From my experience with the BRS books, one edition is not going to make or break your board score. There has been 3 years in between editions but I still don't believe it's worth it.

Its physiology. How much of a difference could there be? I seriously doubt it'd make any difference for boards (which are always a couple years behind the most current research anyhow).

I have the 3rd edition BRS Physio book (2004 i think) and also the 2002 Saunders Physiology Review book that I got way back for in class help. Its all the same thing.

The only topic that I think you'd want to have the most up-to=date version of is pharm (I'm using First aid and my school notes for that).

Btw, I flipped through and compared the 2nd edition BRS Path to the 3rd. Word for word (at least for the respiratory section that I checked), they're exactly the same... just different font.

I hate the new BRS books, they made the font smaller, switched to a glossy paper, that makes reading the book, in a sunny area, very difficult, and the 3rd edition BRS physiology book, the binding is so poor, that pages are falling out of the book 🙁

word for word the same, except maybe in .001%of the book. The font is prob. smaller b/c the book is thiner. and they used 2 tone(blue) coloring in the 4th ed. If you have the 3rd ed. you would be wasting your money. If you dont have either, get the 4th ed since it will be easier to sell.
