Hi guys and gals,

For anyone interested in Emory this year, I just heard that Dr. Walter Curran will be the new chair there. For those of you that aren't familiar with him, he used to be chair at Jefferson and is the current RTOG chair.

Cheers!

Very interesting news! Do you know when it will happen?

Then how about current chair Dr. Lawrence Davis? Thanks,

Not sure when the official hand-off will occur. No later than the end of this academic year, but possibly sooner. Dr. Lawrence Davis has been looking to retire for some time now, but (from what I understand) was asked to stay on until a replacement chair could be identified.

Dr. Curran will also be chief medical officer for the Winship Cancer Institute. Emory just obtained a new director for Winship last year. From what I heard Emory is being VERY aggressive about obtaining NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center status and building up their cancer research program (as evidenced by Dr. Curran's acquisition).

Here's the press release:

Does anyone know if a new chair is in the works at Jefferson?

I am trying to decide if I should interview there. From the comments on this forum, it seems like a traditionally good program, but residents are unhappy, and they have just lost their premiere faculty member.
