hi folks!

still waitlisted at two schools, but really not holding my breath. had some meetings with admissions people to talk about ways to improve my application. The trick is is that the AMCAS needs to be in ASAP, but I haven't had time to really implement any of those improvements (non-medical service, extra class, etc) and therefore list them on the AMCAS.

what are other people doing? Can you submit other material later? or wait to include them on any secondaries/interviews that you get?

any thoughts would be great. thanks

Are you waitlisted post-interview? I don't think many schools begin interviewing before august. If you're waitlisted post-secondary I'd start to do something, and fast. In my situation I sent the admissions committee personal letters detailing what I was accomplishing during the waiting process. I was waitlisted back in 2005 and during that time I shadowed more doctors, did more volunteer work and sent them correspondence detailing it. Obviously, it didn't work; I guess they saw it as a last ditch effort, but hey for you it may work. Put it this way, anything short of ruining my chances can only help me. At this point pull out all the stops and go for it. Go down there, voice your determination and persistence. You've worked this hard to get to this point, why stop now? Find out what they saw lacking and try to fulfill it. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work and you can always take a year off, improve, and reapply (what I'm doing); which I think will work for me this year. All in all, don't give up and try to keep schools informed about what you're doing to improve your application. Good luck👍

I had a similar experience - a school I applied to would give you advice on how to improve your app, but it came at the beginning of the season, which didn't give you any time before the next submission.

Put down what you've done. If it an ongoing project, you can put the "end date" as "present". You cannot put down what you plan to do. You can update schools with letters, but these may or may not be read, depending on the school.

I'm a reapplicant and I wanna apply for the 2008 cycle, and I've made arrangements to work with a cardiologist--do help in his research and shaddow him. However, I haven't started yet--we're starting in Sept. But I obviously need to turn in the primary soon. I heard I could tell them what I'm doing this year in the secondaries. So I don't see any problems with doing this. Am I delusional?
