I'm a new grad and was reading the contract I received when I came to this part.

"For the purposes of this Agreement Agross receipts shall be equal to the gross amount of monies collected or received in respect of services provided by the Contract Dentist to patients of the Practice excluding all billings relating to dental hygiene work performed by a dental hygienist."

what does this mean exactly?

you check the hygienists but your boss gets credit for the exam, not you. ..maybe

It says any work performed by the dental hygienist. So sounds like you would not get credit for cleanings or xrays performed by the DH, which sounds fair to me. Ask your boss to be sure.

Yup. When a patient is in for a hygiene visit with the hygienist, they will be billed, for the cleaning, any applicable films taken, fluoride if applicable, sometimes sealants if applicable, and the fee for the docs exam.

The way that contract is worded, you'd be getting paid, based on what $$ is collected for your exam. The practice (read as the practice owning doc(s) ) would be getting paid based on what $$ is collected for the other procedures billed by the hygienist that day for that patient. Pretty standard stuff contract wise for an associate with respect to hygiene checks.

If and when you become a sole owner or partner in the practice, then you get to make some $$ off the other procedures that the hygienist bills (less their overhead) 😀
