+1I know two pharmacists that became PICs in less than a year at Target, you just have to show you really want it. Also, I believe they're called Executive Team Leaders over there 😀
Extra info - from what I understand, promotions occur rapidly depending on personal drive. Over at Target, you don't simply become PIC at a store because of seniority but you compete for it.
We just had some turnover in RXM positions. We noticed almost all of the new RXMs were new grads. We thought the reason why they were new grads was because they did not know any better. Any one who has worked for a while, realizes that the extra work and stress is not worth it.
I just recently accepted a full time float position with a Target to begin in June. I will be graduating with the joint PharmD/MBA and have worked retail for 5 years. In past years I have had friends accept pharmacy manager positions right out of school with Walgreens, is anybody aware if Target does the same?
Also, from a professional courtesy standpoint, when would an appropriate time be to inquire about possibly applying for the PIC position...right away, 6 months, a year? I feel that I could do the job, very well in fact but I am not naive to the fact I have a lot to learn about the company and the system/workflow of Target.
I am grateful to even have a job. I ultimately want to move up within the company anyway, but the sole motivation for the transfer is location. The job I accepted is an hour or 2 drive everyday to float. The PIC position is in another state but I could live with my brother with no commute.
How difficult is it to transfer to a different location with Target and how long does it take?
Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.
