hey everyone!
I've been reading the forum for the past couple of weeks and finally decided to join! I'm a Canadian resident and I am applying to American dental schools this summer and I've heard from a lot of people that it's harder for Canadian's to get accepted. Can anybody tell me if I at least have a shot?

my stats are:
GPA: expecting around a 3.5
DAT:
reading comp: 18
bio: 20
chem: 19
(AA: 19)
perception: 20

thanks for your help, I've just been really stressed this past year 😳

i think you have a shot. i am not really sure what else to say?

can you tell us your dat scores for all sections?

You've got a good shot. However, some schools do not accept Canadian DAT score. Make sure you find out which ones they are and apply accordingly.

looking at the adea guide, only 19 schools actually accepted a canadian in 2007

total ~ 86 accepted (mode of 2, median 4, average 5)

in other years maybe other schools took a few canadians as well.

I’m pretty sure the guide only displays students who matriculate. It could be that more Canadians were accepted to US schools, but those individuals turned down the acceptances in favor of Canadian schools.

factoring that in, i can't imagine that scenario accounting for any more than 5-10 additional canadians. if they even bothered applying to the states then they know their chances of getting into a canadian school is very little.
i've never even heard of a canadian getting accepted to a canadian dental school. 😛 j/k, but not really. seriously, its so ridiculously hard to get in here.
