The good news: car insurance is much cheaper in the middle of green noplace, Vermont than it is in the urban Midwest.
The bad news: if the insurance policy is tied to Vermont, then the vehicle needs to be registered in Vermont. Which means new plates, and fees for that.
I guess I could re-register the car here at home base, but that means my dad's house (where I've never actually lived) would have to be "home" for the registration and insurance.
So... what are most of us doing, if post-bac is in another state? Have you sold a house, or like me are you just vacating a rented place to take off for postbac? Are you considering a parent or relative's place your "home address" for stuff like car insurance and bills, or are you going whole hog and moving to your adoptive home in a semi-permanent way?
Sure, I plan to come back after the year-or-more of post-bac, but it's not like I know my future address. I'm curious about others who might be facing the same question.
