New Orleans Programs?

Ochsner is recruiting for sure - from the GME office. I don't know about Tulane anesthesiology. Someone posted here that Tulane IM is recruiting for next year.

What are their plans? When do they expect to be 'up and running' again? Have you heard anything?

I'm sorry I don't have any details, I was scheduled to rotate through anesthesiology at Ochsner next month and they cancelled - so I asked if they would be recruiting and was told yes. My app has been downloaded.

I think there is talk of Tulane interviewing in Houston, but again I don't have any details. In the back of my mind is that last years OBGYN resident recruitment consisted only of the scramble - that might be an interesting possibility. my Tulane apps have not been downloaded.

I hope Tulane is up and running quickly. They trained me well.

And ask them if bottled water and MREs are included in your resident's compensation package.

Don't know if Tulane is recruiting for next year but two of the interns that were slated to be CA1's next year called asking if we had any available spots as they were told they would not be able to begin training next year. Tulane will provide excellent training but my guess is they will be a little unstable for a year or two. If you think you could handle that then more power to you.

Wow, I can't believe that Tulane would leave them high and dry so to speak. I wonder if their other programs are doing the same thing. I would think that Tulane would help them in some way. If they are planning on pushing this year's CA1's to be to next year - I guess they can't do any recruiting!

I didn't apply to shreveport - but they probably are recruiting - no damage out in those parts.

We are still running. We currently have four residents staying here for 5 days at a time. On weekdays we have started to run 6-8 rooms, with not much on weekends. We have been given a 5 week period from the RRC to get everybody back to work without affecting our length of residency. The hospital had some wind damage to the roof, and other structures, but no flooding. It was apparently quite crazy around here for the first week, but the hospital has remained open through the whole disaster. We are going to start the first transplants in the New Orleans area (kidney) on the 19th since the hurricane, so you can see that things are picking up. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't be recruiting for the next year, other than the obvious housing difficulties.

I don't know anything about Tulane.

its ashamed that one must delete past post b/c pussyyyy wanna be dick shots cant take the heat and are intimidated as hell.

Just wanted to give out the latest info so that Tulane doesn't have a bad rap this year. The students contacted us again recently and asked us to hold any conideration of a possible transfer as Tulane said they were working something out. I don't know what Tulane is planning but if any of you applicants want to know I suggest you go to the horses mouth. Best of luck to everyone this year.
