I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the New Orleans radiology programs. Im just starting my 1st year of med school and was wondering what people are looking for in a radiology applicant. Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm considering radiology and looking at the New Orleans programs. From what I can tell, LSU takes 8, Tulane takes 4, and Ochsner takes 5, so 17 residency positions are available (give or take).

I'm no authority of what a program looks for in an applicant, but here's a very good website that gives a program director's viewpoint:

High boards scores, high class rank, research, good LORs.

Since you are from NEUCOM, I would probably do an away rotation in your 4th year in New Orleans. Residencies tend to be very regional in nature and often favor local applicants over ones from the other side of the country who have no connection.
