i just accepted a promotion to RXM for a brand new store that will be opening at the end of the summer. I’m only 2 years post graduation but I saw this as an opportunity to learn and grow as the store does (expected to be very slow for a good while).

Any advise/ideas for starting from scratch? What would you have liked if you could build from the ground up?

Sweet. I have applied to openings for rx manager for new pharmacies but haven't made the cut so I am jealous. It would be a great opportunity to get things right from the beginning instead of having to correct longstanding problems. The single biggest area is staff. Get the right people in and implement the processes and procedures. I think your next biggest challenge is a plan to build business. If you don't build business to meet your employers expectations you might get transferred out, if you exceed it you may get promoted. Good luck.

Give out $25 transfer coupons like it is your job.

Don't open the door to the oxyzombies. You'll get every one of them that the other chains rejected. You and your partner should both agree to never order oxy 15's and 30's. If you open the door to them they will eat up all of your time you could be spending with actual patients with actual problems (other than drug addiction).

Spend your time developing some solid store-level policies and stick by them. This applies to both your staff and patients. Let them know you're not dealing with shenanigans from the get-go.

This is really a good opportunity. You need to update your knowledge also because it is a great responsibility and hire the staff who has good knowledge of their work. There are so many other things at the management level that you will need to take care of.
