Hello:

I am new and just thought about applying to Optometry schools this year. Is it too late to even apply? I haven't taken the OAT yet so any suggestions as to when to take it would be appreciated it. Also, I have a 3.2 gpa, do I even have a chance? Any, any, any suggestions would be highly and extremely appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the board faith! Well your gpa is fine. 3.2 is average for alot of the schools. you can go to www.opted.org for a look at the average gpa's and oat's for the different schools. As far as taking the OAT, you should probably take it as soon as possible...before the new year if possible. It is not too late to apply but alot of the schools use rolling admission and alot of students have already started applying. It also depends on where you are as far as taking the pre-req classes that prepare you for the OAT. Classes like physics I and II, general bio, general chem, organic chem. If you have completed these classes, you should look into taking the OAT.

You have plenty of time. I applied to PCO this year in late February, and still got accepted then...with presidential scholarship. =) Just ace the OAT and you should be okay!
