Hey...I'm new to this forum and been browsing for about an hour, and in that past hour my stress levels on getting into dental school have increased exponentially. People worried with a 3.7, 21AA? are they trying to rub it in or are they serious?...but to my question, I looked online and couldn't find the answer, does AADSAS have a + - scale on computing your gpa, or is it strictly 2.0 3.0 4.0? thanks

the people with 3.7, 21AA are not rubbing it in people's face. they have higher expectations and want to get accepted into the better dental schools, which average higher stats like those.
i doubt somebody with a 3.7 21AA is stressing over getting into a ****ty dental school.

AADSAS will calculate your GPA both with +'s and -'s AND separately, without. (This is called the 'GPA w/o'.) Pretty sure they do this because not all undergrads offer the +/- system. They do this for all GPAs they calculate. The GPAs they calculate are: BCP (bio chem physics), science, non-sciences, cumulative.

Thanks rewJW...I thought no dental school is "****ty" . The dentist I go to went to a lower ranked dental school and he is the best/most successful dentist I have ever heard of.

come on, lets be real, there are some schools that are worse than others. whether it is because of tuition, location, staff, administration, or whatever.

I completely agree some are better than others, but I wouldn't consider any "****ty."

I expect to have a 3.9 when I apply next year, and somewhere in the 20's on the DAT and I fully expect that I will be worried. I'm not trying to rub it in, it's just the nature of the beast. Until I have an acceptance in my hands and the deposit in, I will be a nervous wreck.

Don't worry about having a 3.7 and 21 AA, while it is difficult to get into dental school you have to remember that the averages you see places like Predents.com mean that 1/2 the class is slightly lower than that stat. Good luck!

WELL SAID!! If you worked hard for a 4.0, I'm sure you would want to go to a school that has a better tuition rate, better reputation/clinic, or maybe it's just your first choice because of location, etc. But those hardworking students know that it's not guaranteed and they too have a lot to worry about just like students with lower stats. Best of luck!!

To OP, AADSAS has the +/- system. The thing that is different is that a A+ is worth 4.33.

Lol I like your observation. For the longest time I was intimidated to post on the forum because I wasnt a 3.7 / 21. And if I had those scores I would feel pretty good about getting in, but everyone is different. I guess we are all human and worrying is part of life, even with a 3.7 / 21. On a side note, if you dont have those scores, dont get discouraged keep trying and you'll be in dental school too. Once your in, doesnt matter what score you had. 🙂 and NO I wont tell u my scores.

Whoooa! is this true?!? i only have a 2.9cum/3.2sci but i have a few A+'s....so is this for sure?

Would you please elaborate on this or even use an example. I still don't understand what "GPA w/o" is. How can they exclude grades that have +'s & -'s? Thanks.
