Hey all I am finishing a Biology degree down here in Atlanta and looking for different schools. I have been talking to different Vet Schools and all of them are telling me the same thing. First that it doesn't really matter about the degree you have as long as you have the pre-req done. Also I was trying to figure out if this is worth it. Near my school is a tech school that is very big in Ga and has a Vet Tech program. I can finish there program in a year and I can finish my Bio degree in a year. After talking to UGA Vet school the one I am really trying to get into they were telling me they strive on experience. I already have 5 years of Vet experience small and large breed and Im only 21. I wantted yalls opinion on whether getting my Vet tech degree which will give me about 2000hrs of more large and small and also another 1000 in lab hrs. Main question do I switch and get the tech degree or stick out a bio degree which my GPA isn't very good like 3.0 at its best. What do you think?

also When I talked to the UGA Vet school they said that i need to either have a 3.0 or over 1200 on the GRE( which I haven't taken yet) I am banking on getting a 1300 because that is what my practice exams have been.

Here is a thread that addresses vet tech school as a route to vet school:

Within it, I link to three other threads about the same thing - read through those and they should offer some insight.

At age 21, it sounds like you're doing okay. Don't worry too much just yet... just try to get that GPA up by acing a few semesters. 🙂
