I rotated a month at NYU for REI so my exposure to the inpatient ob-gyn teams was limited. However, I did work at several outpatient gyn clinics at Bellevue and took a couple L&D calls there as well. I think the NYU residents are all extremely competent and well trained because they pretty much have to run the clinics and L&D floors themselves at Bellevue. For those of you who don't know, Bellevue is the public hospital at NYU and most of the patients are hispanic and underserved. All the residents I came across spoke Spanish which was very impressive. I think I saw the attending twice at clinic and the rest of the time, the residents do everything! It's high volume and a little stressful/chaotic but I think it is a wonderful hands-on experience. Their M&M sessions were pretty cool too since all the different services from both Tisch and Bellevue come together and the case load is just amazing.
