Thanks for the comment. I am interested in it because of the ability to keep practicing while taking the program, keep the revenue from my patients and to receive the supervision. Must be more than a bunch of videos.
Yes, seems it is strictly a CE certificate program. Extensive curriculum with supervision and I can stay in my practice throughout the whole program. Interesting options. Difficult choice. Other thoughts welcome.
USC also have 2 online programs , the programs are orofacial pain/oral medicine and geriatric dentistry , the advantage of these programs are Master degree that you will get after finishing , getting title of Master instead of certificate is worthless . the complete program will be around $ 50000 , also they send you an invitation for attending some regular training in US and you can get a visa easily with it , then you have a master and in your resume and after your name in your publication you can write DDS,Ms.
Also with a first one you will eligible for 2 boards in US (oral medicine and orofacial pain) so having 2 american boards of specialty is much more fun , I don't think this about ortho certificate .
Thanks. The Ortho program seems to be specifically for dentists who are not planning on working in the U.S. In fact, UB is only considering non-U.S. dentists for the program. So the training while I keep working is a main point for me. Incidentally, I do not believe that oral medicine is a recognized specialty in the U.S. You might want to verify before taking the program with the thought of American certification.
These two online programs are also for those who don't want to work in us but advantage of this program is getting MS + 2 boards certified + much more cheaper .and you are in your home or work in your country .
You can get certificate by going to preceptorship or internship of ortho program that much more cheaper , it is my idea .
The usc program makes you eligible to take the board certification exam of orofacial pain. Orofacial pain is not a recognized specialty and taking this course will not make you eligible for licensure or make you a specialist. Oral medicine is a recognized specialty. There is a 3 yr ms program for oral medicine, with 2 intakes, look into that.
Thank you for your note. I am most interested in Orthodontic training and practice. I also want to keep my general practice while getting trained. I think that the certificate from UB on my wall will be what I need for marketing and the training will be what I need for clinical success. It is costly, but staying in practice and not having to move to campus for the program is very attractive.
