Hey all,

So I'm trying to figure out my courses for next semester and would really appreciate some advice! My biggest concern is my sGPA and weather or not I should take another science class to boost it, so far these are my grades science grades in college:

Chem 1: C+
Chem 2: D (Retake: A-)
Physics 1: A
Physics 2: A
Neuroscience: A
Cell Bio: A
Evolution: A
Statistics: A
Organic Chemistry 1: A
Organic chemistry 2: (In prog. expect: A)
Animal Physiology: (In prog. expect: A)

Next semester so far:
Biochemistry
Bioorganic Chemistry
Orgo lab (2cr.)
(Would like to take molecular genetics, but not required)

So, as you can see, my freshman year was tough (personal reasons, but no excuse) and I've been making it up since then with 4.0's every semester. I'm currently a junior and am taking the MCAT this winter, so I won't have to worry about studying over the spring. I guess my question is if it is worth taking that extra science class to boost my sGPA or not? I'm really nervous about my sGPA killing my application.

Thanks 🙂

What is your sGPA calculated? (Not sure of the weight of each of those classes)

Your academic record seems convincing that you changed your studying habits for the better. It does not seem as if you need to take any more science classes to prove it.

On the other hand not everyone can study for MCAT in a one month window during the winter break.

Thanks for the advice! I have been doing content review for about a month now and plan to finish by the end of this semester, hopefully leaving ample time for practice, although I am a bit concerned. DO you have any advice regarding mcat?
