This was my first year applying, and after having a first round interview at my state school, I still have not heard anything from anyone. Except a rejection from Michigan in January👎 Assuming that I don't get in this year, would becoming a teacher for the Kaplan DAT test class help my application for next year or not? I have an audition on March 3. Thanks for the help.

it would be nice, but i dont think it will be the factor that will cause them to take you next cycle. If you dont mind, give us some stats so we can better answer the question.

Here are my stats. DAT--Bio-21, G-Chem-20, O-Chem-20, RC-21, QR-20, PAT-21. GPA-3.18, SCIGPA-3.68. If I don't get accepted, I am going to retake some classes I did poorly in when I started school 10 years ago, otherwise I'll graduate this May.

Those are some pretty solid stats, except for maybe cum gpa. I think you just need to apply more broadly. How many schools did you apply to this cycle?

I applied to nine schools. They were all in areas that I have family across the country... Colorado, UT@San Antonio, UNLV, Creighton, Michigan, BU, Columbia, NYU, and Tufts. I only had an interview at Colorado, and they are my top choice.

If you started school 10 years ago ... maybe it was too long ago that you took some of the prereqs? I know in another thread they were talking about how some schools want all your prereqs within the past 4-5 years.

I took all of my pre-reqs when I went back to school a few years ago, and got A's in all of them except a B in O-chem 2. All of the bad grades were in classes that had to do with other degrees that were not science related, and that was 10 years ago. I thought that adcoms would see that I grew up and could succeed after doing not so great in some classes, but maybe I just need to show that I can re-take and do well in them. So do you think it will help to teach Kaplan, or would I be wasting my time?
