Can anyone give some insight to the NHSC interview process? Is it similar to dental school interviews?

Any idea how many interviews they conduct to fill 100-150 new seats? They received about 1500 applications.

Also, should I select an interview location (city) that matches the service region I selected on the application? For example, if I selected my preferred region as the Southeast, would it work against me to interview in Phoenix?

Thanks.

There will be two interviewers who will bombard you with questions non-stop for about 45 minutes. They will frantically write down your reponses.

The location of the interview does not matter at all. They offer different interview locations so that it will be easy for you, the interviewee, to get to the interview. That's it.

p.s. A tip for the interview-- search these forums for nhsc interview questions asked in the past because they recycle a lot of questions every year. The questions they asked me comprised about 80% of the questions I saw on these forums. Oh, and don't ever say you want to specialize and make sure you emphasize that you are definitely interested in primary care/general dentistry. Good luck.
