hey guys, i was just wondering if anybody here is on the NHSC scholarship. i talked to them today, and if you get the scholarship (supposedly its very competitive) they pay all your tutition. in return you have to serve in an area where they need dentists for however many years they pay your tution. i wanted to get some details about it, like how much they get paid afterwards, what they consider when accepting applicants, etc. if anybody knows u can eithe PM me or just reply so everybody can benefit. thanks

I am on the scholarship. There are a couple threads about it in the financial aid section. But to answer your questions they are looking for applicants that will stay in the underserved areas even after their time commitment is up. Salaries are negotiated with the site you pick to work at. They are slightly lower than associateships. I think they range from 60,000 - 95,000 depedning on what part of the country you are in. The scholarship pays tuition and most fees plus there is a stipend that is about 1,000 after taxes. Let me know if you have any other questions.
