Anybody know what drugs he used to kill his patients?

I can't find a single source for this vital piece of information.

Reporters suck....that's all I want to say about that.

In 2005, a colleague saw Högel injecting a patient with ajmaline, but management didn't do anything about it for two days, during which Högel killed his final patient. Six employees at the hospital at Delmenhorst are now charged with negligent manslaughter for their failure to act. An investigation into neglect at Oldenburg is ongoing.

Per on of the articles link from wikipedia, "The nurse used five different drugs including ajmaline, sotalol, lidocaine, amiodarone and calcium chloride, police said on Monday. Overdoses can lead to life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia and a drop in blood pressure, causing a rapid decline in an already ill patient."

Wow. This is heavy stuff.

Weird meds though... why not insulin or potassium chloride? If he really wanted the euphoria of saving them that is... strange.

It's pretty scary that he killed 97 people before being stopped. So, so sad. Definitely weird meds, but that is not surprising given the fact that this is a very abnormal individual at baseline.

Diagnosis is much easier and the treatment as well: not very exciting saving someone with glucose.

He worked in the ICU so probably 50% would have died anyway.

Never heard of Ajmaline - seems like a pretty cool drug though.

I wonder if it would work as a nerve block agent.

I also just learned about Brugada syndrome by learning about Ajmaline.

Geez, that's a heavy ass cocktail. Why not use one drug that's easily reversible if all he really meant to do was "show off" resuscitation skills? Like to me, he was trying to kill those poor people. Not show off his ACLS skills.

And the article I read online said that the increase in death toll was not reported even thought it was abnormal when he started working at one clinic. And then he left and went to another clinic and got a good reference letter even though he had high mortality rates compared to the norm. Then killed more people. Guess, people didn't want to get involved.

I wonder how he picked his patients? Randomly, or the sickest of the sickest. With Kervokian, I can understand. But this guy, hmm. He sounds like a true psychopath.
