so I got my passport photo today and wow they do everything to make it look like a mug shot! To make it worst I wore this american eagle white polo shirt with the the numbers "1977" on the right and it looked like well my prison ID (my fault). I also have my ear pierced and my hair is in this mini modern mohawk kinda thing and I have highlights... yes I'm a guy and I have highlights! I can't send this photo to dental schools!

I was wondering if I can send them another wallet sized photo, preferably one with me smiling in it because it looks like I'm about to kill someone in this passport photo. Or do I have to send them an authentic passport photo?

Yea The one passport photo i bought made me look like a Charles Manson protege. Eventually I got a digital camera and took a few shots in a suit. Then i took it to the CVS photomachine and was able to crop it to a 2x2 and print a sheet of head shots. I don't think you actually need a "passport" photo.

lol... if only i had a scanner

Here is what I did:
Took a photo w/ a digital camera... then printed a few in a high quality paper photo and cut it to specification. There was a thread last year on application photos and many people who had been accepted had done this, so I decided to give it a try instead of spending any more $ and it worked out great.

I did the same thing, except I wore a tie and tried to look professional. Schools don't care if it is an actual passport photo taken at Kinkos or a decent digital copy done at home as long as they can match your face to your file when they sit down to make admissions decisions.

i second that. try finding a scanner. please. 😀

Highlighted mohawk and piercings? HOT!!! Post the pic, please. 😉

I was too lazy to go out and get a picture taken. I still had some 2x2 senior pictures from high school laying around, so I sent them in. The admins probaby thought I was 17, but I don't think it mattered at all.

Last year I took a couple pics with a digital camera, burned the image on a CD (you can even just bring in the memory card), went to walmart, got on their kodac self service station and printed out ID photos...12 2x2 photos cost less than a dollar to print. Very easy to do and very inexpensive, don't passport photos cost around $30? Schools just want a 2x2 photo of you to attach to their files, not anything official.

thanks guys for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to go to a photo place and get self portraits of myself (that doesn't sound conceited at all). By the way I'm going to take the earing out . Meanwhile, the search for a scanner continues.

I worked with a dentist who had an earring, it was kinda funny, a little silver stud (I wasn't too sure of his sexuality considering it was in the right...but he was an associate so I didn't get to know him too well)...funny guy though.

I remember being told such "codes" of identity when I was nine only to find out there is no real meaning behind them.

Are you single? More importantly, are you female?

Don't worry mate - they can't discriminate on the basis of looks. Just like they can't discriminate against us Canadians!

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
