Hello all,

I am an NIH IRTA applicant and I am currently a bit worried. As expected, I've sent emails to over 40 PI's and have gotten few responses. Thankfully, I have gotten around 4-5 PI's telling me that they will contact me to schedule an interview soon. Their responses, however, were about 7-8 days ago. I am worried because I am not sure how long I should be waiting for the scheduling email. Is there a possibility that they looked at my application, did not like something (maybe my reccs), and decided not to contact me? I am probably just over worried but do you guys remember how long it took between the initial email and interview scheduling? It would put my mind at ease.

Thanks.

This is PI-dependent and previous IRTA fellows' experiences might not be what you'll experience. That said, I was in a similar position with 2 PIs when I was applying, and I sent a follow-up e-mail two weeks after they told me they'd schedule an interview soon. Turns out they were going to have their lab managers send me an e-mail, but just forgot to do so. PIs are often very busy with writing, meetings, etc., I say give it a couple more days then send a follow-up e-mail.
