I'm an undergrad now, just took the MCAT today, and will graduate a year early this summer. However, this semester was my first one doing basic science research (I've done social science research in the past), but I just applied to the NIH post bach. program.

Question is...will MD/PhD programs take the NIH thing into consideration (if I'm accepted to the program) seeing as to how my research so far is kind of sparse?

THanks.

ANother question...Anyone from Upstate ever on this thread? I live right down the road from Upstate and that's my first choice school...

Of course they will. I spent two years at NIAID - definitely helped me a lot when I applied. The most important thing is to find a PI who
1) will train you well
2) understands your goal and needs, gives you guidance and advices and
3) helps you on your application.

Best wish. 👍
