Apparently, it is no longer an option in CAS to submit a late 4th letter of recommendation from your home ophthalmology program. The new option, according to SFMatch, is to submit your application with two LORs and a note saying the 3rd LOR will come at a later date.

Not outstandingly favorable for hitting that target date for folks who aren't able to do an ophthalmology rotation in July of their 4th year and don't have significant prior departmental contact....

That definitely is a disadvantage to no longer have a 4th letter, it's hard enough since it is early!

The website makes references of labels for each item that has to be included. It sounds like it is provided to you...but I'm not sure I ever received anything. Can anyone explain? Thanks in advance

so the initial app goes with TWO LORs? i thought the initial was 3 meaning one from IM and two from ophtho OR one from IM/one from GS/one from ophtho.

and then you could send one more extra after an away you did somewhere for ophtho.

NOW - the initial is two and one later for a total three?

As far as I understand it, you can still submit all 3 initially if you want

You can submit any combination of letters you wish at any time, with a maximum of 3. I'm sure you have a much lower risk of having one misplaced if you submit all 3 at the same time....

o ok. i see. so now instead of a TOTAL 4 they changed it to 3. right?

if this is the case, are you guys sending three out initially or sending two initially and then sending one late through an audition away?

Hi. I plan on sending all 3 out initially because I have my ophtho letters in tow. I dont think it will matter...it will just depend on when you can get your ophtho letters.

Any idea about if you need labels to affix to things or not? In the CAS instructions it eludes to labels and I wasn't sure...
