I didn't get any interviews so does that mean I cannot give a ROL😕
If I'm to go 4 scramble do I personally have 2 fax my docs 2 the progs or eras is going to do that 4 me.😕 😕

ummm... I would probably skip the SDN step and get my a** into my deans office tomorrow morning and start doing whatever it is they tell you to do.

I believe that you can still submit your ROL but the chance is you will not match on 3/15. The bad news is you will have to submit all your stuff through fax when you scramble. You should have 2 phone lines, a fax machine and a computer with internet connection ready to facilitate the process. I see that you have an M.B.B.S degree so my guess is you got your degree from countries such as India? I don't think going to your dean will help if that is the case.

yup i'm an M.B.B.S and dean's office does me no good.everything sucks

What exactly is it that i have to fax ? 😕

You should submit a rank order list even though you did not interview anywhere. Only NRMP applications with a certified ROL will be eligible to scramble, last I checked.

Therefore, choose a program, any program, and rank it. Choose Mass General if you wish. Doesn't matter, since you didn't interview, you will not match.

However, since you certified an ROL and didn't match, you will be allowed to participate in the scramble. You will have access to (on scramble day) the list of unfilled positions, and you can try to get a spot somewhere. Some programs allow you to scramble through ERAS -- i.e. you can simply choose to send your application to those programs, and it arrives electronically on scramble day. Some programs will require you to fax your information, so you should have a hard copy too.

It is a good idea to have help with this. In addition, it is difficult to try to do this from another country, due to the time changes, and phone connection issues, etc. -- hopefully you are (or will be) in the US to scramble.

If you did not get any interviews, I expect your chances of getting a spot in the scramble are limited, but I'm sure it happens.

Good luck!

thank u very much 4 the info.btw i live in mass.

Stay positive. People on this site can be pretty negitive or sometimes rude. You should submit a rank list so you can scramble. What were you trying to match into? You will now be likely limited to Family or possibly IM due to the fact there are more spots than applicants. You need a fax machine to send copies of transcripts, letters and other info to programs as soon as they request them. Call programs from a cell phone and have the fax set up on the land line. Having a friend to help you call can allow you to try and reach 2 programs at once as you will be placed hold sometimes. Good luck

yes, people can be pretty rude - usually when the OP has a new account and thus has contributed nothing before and then asks a question before bothering 2 do a search and can't even take the time 2 write full sentences.

besides lor,transcripts and cv do prog ask to fax ps as well, just curious 🙂

I think they can ask you for everything in your eras including your PS but usually they are just interested in your transcript, cv, board scores etc. Do you know which specialties you may be interested in? It's not uncommon for people to end up scrambling into a specialty other than their original choice. These are just a few questions you should ask yourself before the big day comes.

What kind of program are you trying to scramble into? I think you are at a supreme disadvantage without a dean's office to help walk you through the process. You need multiple phones, a fax machine, internet connection, and an extra set of hands/eyes.

i'm going 4 IM and FM and i've everything at home my hubby is going to take his day off to help me out with this.

Well, I think you're set. Good Luck!

If you are not in the USA, you mau also try scrmble, but I do not think you can get something out of it just experience with scrumble process. Better try to find out the reasons why you did not get interv, low score? no USCE? not strong LOR? ... try to improve the weekness and try next time.

As far as I understand - it is as long as you have applied to at least one program, you can still scramble. You might not submit a ROL and still be eligible to scramble. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

Could you please clarify the following for me: If you are not done with taking all steps( i.e. have taken step 1, step2, but not CSA )and you are an FMG, than you can apply trough the match, you can NOT submit a ROL, because you don't have an ECFMG certificate, but you could still participate in the scramble and you will be given the list of unfilled programs? Is that correct - I read and read on the ERAS, NRMP, ECFMG website, but still am I not 100% sure of how the rules affects an FMG who is not ECFMG certified and wants to scramble 🙄

Hey, look at that! Looks like I'm wrong yet again!

First, to clarify my first post, anyone not matching is able to scramble. I wonder if people who didn't register for the match at all can potentially scramble into a position -- at that point, it would seem that any open spot is open to anyone (except of course anyone who did match). Anyway, the main issue is not who CAN scramble, but instead it's about who has access to the scramble list.

Now, about being wrong: I just checked the NRMP's website, under the independent applicant FAQ, and found the following (describing what happens when you log into your account on the Monday of match week):

QUOTE FROM NRMP WEBSITE --->

5. You are NOT matched because you did not submit a certified rank order list!

This message will be displayed for any applicant who registered to participate in the Match but did not certify a rank order list prior to the rank order list certification deadline. Applicants who receive this message will have access to the Dynamic List of Unfilled Programs and are eligible to participate in the post-Match Scramble for any category of unfilled positions.

6. You are NOT matched because you are withdrawn!

This message will be displayed for any applicant who registered to participate in the Match but was withdrawn either by the medical school or by the NRMP. Applicants who were withdrawn by the NRMP because they obtained positions through another matching service will not have access to the Dynamic List of Unfilled Programs.

END OF QUOTE ----->

So, it appears that anyone registered for the match but not submitting a certified rank list will have access to the scramble list, and hence there is no need to submit a list if you did not get any interviews. Interestingly, if you do not have ECFMG certification on Feb 21, you are withdrawn by the NRMP. I am assuming that you would get access to the list in that case, although the text above is a bit unclear about that.

What do you mean by that???

Don't want to speak for the OP, but sounds to me like they meant that there are other opportunities available. Didn't read too confusing to me, but oh well.
