Hi,
I am just wondering which American med schools do not take MCAT scores?

I think John Hopkins doesn't. In Canada there are 2. What others are there?

Thanks,

HR

i have the 2002-3 version of the msar. to my knowledge there is no medical school in the u.s that ignores mcat scores. canadian med schools i believe are different. johns hopkins DOES require mcat scores (at least, according to their adcom and website)

if something changed from last year then i could definitely be wrong....but this is how i understand it now.

You won't get into any medical school without taking the MCAT. Even caribbean schools require you to take it (although it doesn't seem to matter what you make).

Unless you are in some special program that combines undergrad and med school I don't think you could get in without facing the MCAT.

I am sure there have been circumstances where someone got in without taking it but those are the very rare exceptions not the rule.

Also I don't really know about Canadian schools so I am not speaking for them. They might be an exception.

I don't know about other canadian provinces but they really don't matter because unless you are a resident of most other provinces (other than Ontario) your chances of getting are slim to nil...they don't have many spots. As for Ontario, there are 5 medical schools and 4 of the 5 require the MCAT. McMaster does not require it, and they don't even look at scores if you tell them you've taken it. Having said that, getting into McMaster is a whole other ball of wax...for 118 spots this year they had over 4000 applicants.

McMaster University and the University of Ottawa do not require the MCAT but both are extremely competitive and I believe that for Ottawa, you must be a Canadian citizen / landed immigrant.

University of Toronto takes foreign students and uses the MCAT as a "flag," with an 8 on any section voiding your application.

just to clarify, there was technically a stretch a couple years ago when Hopkins didnt require the MCAT. But since they joined AMCAS, they subsequently require the MCAT again.

Unless you're in a BA/MD program, every US med school requires the MCAT, end of story.

trinity college dublin does not require the mcat if you have any interest in going abroad for med school. all other irish schools do. i wouldn't recommend going abroad for med school unless you've fully researched it and can accept the consequences.

all american schools require the mcat. when i was in college john's hopkins didn't, but that has since changed.

Its JOHNS HOPKINS people.. not John's Hopkins (LOL) or john hopkins

and yes, they require the MCAT again... those bastards

Ross doesn't require the MCAT to be accepted, but it is required to matriculate there. A guy I went to college went actually just got accepted there without having taken the MCAT, now he just has to take it before school starts.
