I bet you 30 years ago, some of these Engineers would have been "Pre-Med."

"Bobba has attended UC Berkeley, where he was in the prestigious Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology program. According to a copy of his now-deleted LinkedIn obtained by WIRED, Bobba was an investment engineering intern at the Bridgewater Associates hedge fund as of last spring and was previously an intern at both Meta and Palantir."

We should have a steady supply of new recruits. I'm thinking:

Sub-specialty pre-meds from former FBI and CIA recruits/firings. PCPs and peds from USAID and Department of Education firings. Just don't tell them the student loan programs might be axed too.

Actually one of the kids was doxxed by a WSJ journalist with ties to the CIA who also tried to dox billionaire Bill Ackman last year. The rest made CNN…..one guy goes by the name Big Balls. There’s a war going on in DC and the swamp is not going down without a fight.

I don't get it. If someone says they want to marry their own ethnicity, they're supposed to apologize for that now?

No you forgot the rules (aka the double standard)

If a minority says they only want to marry someone of their own ethnicity that is honorable and just fine.

If a straight caucasian person also wants to marry a straight Caucasian of their own ethnicity, then they are an evil racist, amd bigot and they deserve to suffer!

He said "I was racist before it was cool" and "normalize Indian hate".

Don't think these statements matter if you're Caucasian or not. Unless you want your job back:

You're joking, right? He's being characterized as a racist and bigot because he advocated for eugenicist immigration policy, normalizing 'Indian hate', and straight up referred to himself as racist.

Ah. Apologies as I was unaware of that.

Mine was a general comment about the racial double standard.

Usually the old-timers keep it to the private forum. JLo just doesn’t know any better.

It was pertinent to the thread.

And so what if he said racist things as a kid? His life should be ruined for saying stupid things as a kid? Gtfoh

This was stuff he said….in September

If you honestly think he was “just a kid” at that time, I don’t think that kid should have as much access to the inner workings of the government as he does

I don’t care. YOUR side said they were kids first when you tried to discredit them. Make up your mind. Are they kids who aren’t qualified, or are they adults who shouldn’t be there because they say racist things?(which is laughable)

You guys are all over the place with your tantrums exposing waste and abuse of YOUR OWN MONEY.

Is it laughable that adults shouldn’t hold certain positions of power when they are outwardly racist, or are you saying it’s laughable that we consider “Normalize Indian hate” to be a racist statement?

He’s not in a position of power. He’s an analyst. He reports his findings to other people.

Are you saying somebody should lose their livelihood because they say or do something stupid on social media? I don’t wanna live in a country like that.

How did we survive as a society without the ability to pore through social media posts to discover all the racist/sexist/Hitlers that walk among us?

Hoorah for social media?

Luckily he was reinstated and now he’s famous thanks to them. Of course it’s very one-sided when it comes to canceling somebody. Only the left wants to cancel the right. They can say we are Nazis and fascist as much as they want without any repercussions.

So @Agast a 10-year-old can decide their gender, but a 19-year-old can’t work on government efficiency?

An employer is free to hire who they want, but someone's social media posts are fair game, especially in a government position. Musk/Trump seem to enjoy the spotlight if rehiring someone who is racist. Good for them I guess?

If that 19 year-old doesn't have the judgment not to post his racists view on social media, that is fair game for criticism. Should we give a pass if he had pro-Nazi posts?

Yes, good for them. People are free to hold whatever beliefs they want.

And others are welcome to expose whatever they think will work for their cause but I'll just say that "racist/sexist/phobic/Nazi" has lost its edge. I completely tune it out.

Just for the record, this is what he typed as far as I know IF the BBC is accurate and not taken out of context, such as if he was joking….i can see you are outraged about the things the leftwing media went out of their way to find out that he typed. I’m not outraged at all about that. I’m outraged about what he has found while working at DOGE. That you care more about this kid vs the fraud he has found says more about you.

“The account connected to Mr Elez - first reported by the Wall Street Journal - posted a variety of inflammatory comments that were verified by the BBC as authentic.

"Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool," read one post from the pseudonymous account in July.

Another post, in September, said: "You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity."

"Normalize Indian hate," another post that month said.”

Very good point. This is all second hand from media sources that make a living by taking things out of context to provoke outrage.

Totally done with it.

So, what is an excusable context for those comments? Surely there were plenty of people lined up for that position who were at least as competent - they could have chosen one who isn’t openly racist. Choosing him in the first place shows inadequate vetting of people being given access to vast amounts of confidential information that would be very valuable to our enemies. Re-hiring him after he showed enough good sense to resign sends a very clear message of “Racism is welcome here!”

What are the billions in fraud uncovered so far? USAID? NIH spending? You don't seemed concerned with Team President Musk/Trump overstepping the authority of the executive branch. If he wants to shut down USAID so be it, but it needs to go through Congress.

So racism generally progresses like this:

1) think racist thoughts
2) voice/discuss racist thoughts where it becomes acceptable to more people
3) act on racist thoughts

If someone can stop themselves at #1, then they have restraint and judgment. if you stop someone at #2, you're more likely to prevent #3 from happening. I'd bet if instead of "normalize Indian hate" he had said "normalize Jewish hate" or "normalize Nazi gatherings" then he wouldn't have been rehired.

You don't need an excuse to think a certain way or make comments, as far as I'm concerned. You can say Hitler is your hero or you love Stalin and Chairman Mao. I seriously don't care.

I do care if you're competent at your job tho.

All you're doing is pushing this stuff underground.

Here are just a few even examples

When Congress asked USAID last year what it was doing, it couldn't--or wouldn't-- answer. Without good information management systems, maybe they didn't *know* what they were doing. Here are some more of the "valuable" projects that YOU & I funded (technically they were put on your grandchildren's credit card):

— $7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid “binary-gendered language”

— $20 million for a new Sesame Street show in Iraq

— $4.5+ million to “combat disinformation” in Kazakhstan

— $1.5 million for “art for inclusion of people with disabilities”

— $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala

— $6 million to “transform digital spaces to reflect feminist democratic principles”

— $2.1 million to help the BBC “value the diversity of Libyan society”

— $10 million worth of USAID-funded meals, which went to an al Qaeda-linked terrorist group

— $25 million for Deloitte to promote “green transportation” in the country of Georgia

— $6 million for tourism in Egypt

— $2.5 million to promote “inclusion” in Vietnam

— $16.8 million for a SEPARATE “inclusion” group in Vietnam

— ~$5 million to EcoHealth Alliance, one of the key NGOs funding bat virus research at the Wuhan lab

— $20 million for a group related to a key player in the Russiagate impeachment hoax

— $1.1 million to an Armenian “LGBT group”

— $1.2 million to help the African Methodist Episcopal Church Service and Development Agency in Washington, D.C., build “a state-of-the-art 440 seat auditorium”

— $1.3 million to Arab and Jewish photographers

— $1.5 million to promote “LGBT advocacy” in Jamaica

— $1.5 million to “rebuild” the Cuban media ecosystem

— $2 million to promote “LGBT equality through entrepreneurship” in Latin America

— $500K to solve sectarian violence in Israel (just ten days before the Hamas October 7 attack)

— $2.3 million for “artisanal and small scale gold mining” in the Amazon

— $3.9 million for “LGBT causes” in the western Balkans

— $5.5 million for LGBT activism in Uganda

— $6 million for advancing LGBT issues in “priority countries around the world”

— $6.3 million for men who have sex with men in South Africa

— $8.3 million for “USAID Education: Equity and Inclusion”

— USAID’s “climate strategy” outlined a $150 billion “whole-of-agency” approach to building an “equitable world with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.”

Again with this list? If you have to misrepresent your evidence to make your case, then that should make you re-think your argument. Since I’m guessing you just copied and pasted this from some conservative blog, it should make you question why those who control the right wing information ecosystem felt the need to misrepresent USAIDs’ projects to try to get voters to approve of dismantling it.

This list has been on multiple different websites including those of US senators. You shouldn't just dismiss because it goes against your mistaken belief that liberals are not the biggest wasters of tax dollars in the federal government.

Let's say USAID gave 10 million to a particular program that does a lot of things, including feeding starving children. But also they used 50k on some BS equity project. You better believe politicos will frame that as "10 million to an equity program".

I fully recognize some may be mislead by this but am still offended by the entire program.

It also seems clear that the oversight of this agency has been severely lacking.

I don’t know for sure what’s been uncovered, only what’s been leaked. There is supposedly an official hearing this week to announce to the country what has been found. I only posted here about the DOGE team being outted and doxxed by the media. But USAID employees are hidden by the media for fear of retaliation…..the left’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Musk rehired him and hired another few dozen DOGE workers supposedly. Only he knows why. Frankly the outrage about this kid is fake and ridiculous to distract from what he and DOGE have found. If you don’t like it, sorry not sorry.

As described by replies above, the post is completely erroneous and intentionally misleading. A quick Google search shows the first statement is false and misleading. It pays for promoting Democracy:

Perhaps a tiny portion goes to binary language. It's clear nothing was investigated before it was axed. The rest of this list is likely BS as well.

Also, there is nothing about FRAUD there which what was claimed. Do you think it's wasteful? How about blaming Congress members from BOTH parties who approve the budget every year?

USAID has been a part of soft.power US foreign policy for decades approved by both parties. If you don't like it so be it. But claiming it as some leftist fraudulent group is complete nonsense.

My understanding is that a reporter had to do some digging to find these posts and associate them with a user. "Digging" implies "underground".

The message I think doge is sending by rehiring this guy is that you're not gonna get cancelled and destroyed if you DELETE offensive posts and make an effort to keep highly objectionable views underground.

so it would be okay to hire someone who supported BLM, right? or black panther movement?

or it would be acceptable to someone who is unabashedly pro-Palestinian?

after all, nothing bad will happen to anyone who expresses their beliefs, right?

oh snap.

even if this abuse/fraud is legit (that list is laughably misleading), then it is CONGRESS' job for oversight. funds were appropriated and cannot be summarily stopped. we have laws for a reason

Saying stupid things should not get you fired or cancelled. Saying death to a race is kinda different, especially when you aren’t a US citizen, don’t you think? I bet there are clauses in their VISA. But saying “terrorist” things against a race when you are here on a VISA is a totally different level of stupidity. This is whataboutism….i thought the left criticized whataboutism?!?!?

FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!

More Whataboutism…..pace yourselves. It’s only day 23….1439 days left. This thread was about the DOGE kids….keep your whataboutism to the other political thread.

Ummmmmm it’s being argued right now that the federal govt granting or loaning these groups money is unconstitutional. They are not “the general welfare of the people”. Just heard this so still trying to confirm.

The U.S. Constitution does not authorize the Federal Government to loan or grant money to anyone—USAID is unconstitutional. How can it possibly be a violation of our republic’s principles for Trump to dismantle an agency that never should have existed? Meanwhile, private companies have the right to discriminate on any basis they choose, including race or gender. Civil rights laws that restrict that right are unconstitutional and have ironically led to even more race- and gender-based discrimination. The government shouldn’t be in the business of handing out money or dictating how businesses operate. Free markets and limited government—what a concept!”

The overwhelming majority of these protests are peaceful against Israel's bombing campaign killing tens of thousands of children and decimating an entire population. This is Trump's way of silencing legitimate Israeli criticism due to the love affair with the far right of Israel. Doxxing and smearing those who dare criticize has long been the tactic here for AIPAC and the far right pro-Israel movement. Musk donates $200 Mil and gets DOGE, and Adelson donates $100 Mil and gets all the pro-Israel executive action.
If you have bad actors in the protestors, prosecute them like you would anyone else. What is the need for the executive order? It is used to scare and silence legitimate protest.

I wouldn't mind the executive order if there was some consistency. Anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian harassment and attacks (including several deaths and shooting in the US) are way up, but there is no executive order commenting from Trump.

This list has been on multiple different websites including those of US senators. You shouldn't just dismiss because it goes against your mistaken belief that liberals are not the biggest wasters of tax dollars in the federal government.
Exactly my point! These things get circulated around by a bunch of right wing sources because it supports their world view, and because you see the same list from so many different people, you assume it must be fact. But nobody who shared it actually checked and it isn’t. It’s a classic cognitive bias in action.

30 seconds of a google search will give you a Fox News article that shows that the top item in the list is severely misleading. The total amount of funding was to promote independent media in that country. That organization, among all their other work, produced a few PowerPoints on gender pronouns. That is as misleading as saying the US spent 4.9 Trillion on transgender care last year. Whoever made that list is manipulating you!!

The article states he promises to act if their behavior continues. Sounds like he is putting the prior university and other protests on notice….not that it already happened.

Those who attack Palestinians should be prosecuted. But as far as I know, Israelis and Jews aren’t calling for genocide like pro-Palestinians are.

even if this abuse/fraud is legit (that list is laughably misleading), then it is CONGRESS' job for oversight. funds were appropriated and cannot be summarily stopped. we have laws for a reason
Wow, you're suddenly a constitutional purist? Now do student loan forgiveness.

This list came from a reputable source that has rarely ever steered me wrong. Retired college professor

Why should anyone believe you when you say these numbers are fabricated or misrepresented? What data/facts do you have other than your own biases and presuppositions? I’d be interested in seeing your data

this one literally put a smile on my face.

actually, yes, there is a difference.

cancelling funds already appropriated is different than finding funds in existing programs

if you remember, some of biden's student loan forgiveness programs were struch down in court. and he actually listened to the court and respected the rule of law.

democrats do their homework and work within the confines of the law. you dont seem to care that trump doesnt.

you are like a puppy looking to be told what to do, rather than actually desiring your own agency

Free markets and limited government—what a concept!”

if you want to post biased and possibly bogus comments, you need to link who posted, otherwise it is not worth the bytes of memory that were used to store it.

a "retired college professor" is as believable as libs of tiktok, which is to say it is not.

and it is the responsibility of those posting "facts and data" to defend them ie post their sources. yours is a false argument. oddly enough, when i post facts, information, studies, all i ever hear is "thats fake" "thats not real," "bull (pile of poopie)".

Clause 1 General Welfare
  • The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
Article 1 Section 8.

fwiw, congress is empowered to set up whatever agencies it wants. the president does not get to decide what is unconstitutional. that is the court system and the supreme court.

in addition, it is not the power of the president to stop what Congress has mandated. again. that is on Congress.

i think you need to go back and learn about how our government works, because clearly there are deficits in your understanding of our system of governing.

some of those who support palestine are calling this a genocide. why would an Israelite call what their side is doing a genocide?
