No reply from Science Professor for LOR

It's been about over a week since I emailed him and still haven't gotten a reply. I will send another email later today and see if he forgot about it.

Anyway, if my professor ends up not replying/rejecting my LOR request. Would a PI LOR suffice to cover its place?
For LORs, I have:
non-science (math), volunteer coordinator, one from my PI, and finally one from a physician I shadowed for a bit.

It seems like a science LOR is one of those needed letters that's recommended, so just wanted to get some opinions.

Some schools require 1 or more letters from science professors who taught you in a class. Check individual requirements for each school you're applying to, but keep trying for the science letter.

about writing a LOR? He might be off campus for the summer and not checking his emails frequently!

Have you ever met a prof who reliably responds to email in a reasonable length of time? You need to call and ask or call and set up an appointment to meet in person about this then follow up with an email immediately after the meeting then follow up with a request from Interfolio immediately after that. And set a deadline for the LOR. And then if it isn't in by that deadline, email the day it is due and follow up with a phone call then another meeting. Be persistent.

@ sunshine859 Thanks for that bit of info, I forgot about that.

and yes I have talked to my professor a couple times prior about and LOR and he has said he would be more than willing to do one for me. (he's also affiliated with an internship I was in, so I also run into him a bit even after taking his class) .

The problem is, I've moved back home from college after graduation, so scheduling a face to face interview is difficult. I'm hoping the 2nd email get's to him, but I guess it's a good time to also look for a back of science LOR if need be.
I'll ask and see if they are willing.

Adding onto this, find out if they teach summer classes or are on campus much. Ask around to their research students about when the professor goes into lab. Try to find out if he's on vacation this week somehow. A week is not too long for someone to be gone on a trip, and it sounds like they were glad to write a letter. Calling is a good option, but you need to try and find when to call as well 🙂
